Graphic Artist

primary function

Located in Olympia WA, the Graphic Artist works with cross functional departments to support the Marketing Department's strategic areas of focus. The Marketing department runs the following lines of Alaffia's business: social media engagement, eCommerce, education, branding, advertising, merchandising, public relations, product development and marketing operations.  The Graphic Artist works in consistent alignment, and reports to, the Senior Director of Marketing & Product Development. The Graphic Artist is responsible for maintaining visual continuity throughout all aesthetic touch points pertaining to the Alaffia brand, such as: monthly specials, sell sheets, brochures, order forms, flyers, posters, web page assets, advertisements, displays, labels and all promotional vehicles etc. He/She touches most programs in all facets of Marketing.


  • The Graphic Artist is responsible for monthly specials, sell sheets, brochures, order forms, flyers, posters, web page assets, advertisements, displays, labels, packaging, POP, trade show booths, press checks, photography and all promotional vehicles.
  • Responsible for supporting the Alaffia brand in design related innovation, modernity, trend-setting and fashion forward thought leadership and creativity.
  • Is able to uphold deadlines and timely turnaround without sacrificing brand consistency, feedback, overall creativity and novelty.
  • Shows a high level of interest and enthusiasm for attending industry trade-shows, museum and design exhibitions.
  • Working closely with the Senior Director, to drive and re-enforce Alaffia in the industry through innovative Marketing programs and engagement
  • Ensures all marketing content and deliverables are on brand and message
  • Supports cross functional teams within Alaffia to manage programs around industry, customer & consumer events & promotion to drive visibility
  • Helps with establishing launch preparedness Has a cursory knowledge of FTC & DSHEA regulations & guidelines in collaboration with the Research & Development Department
  • Adds design leadership to the following marketing tasks: concept creation (website, packaging, education, POP, press releases), proof reading, graphic design, photography, local community outreach & participation, as well as, sponsorships.
  • Supports corporate strategic initiatives & tactical programming
  • Ensures brand consistency
  • Proactive thinking with respect to costs, process & efficiencies in planning and executing design programs
  • Supports customer and consumer education programs at Alaffia as needed
  • Ensures merchandising and messaging is consistent
  • Supports, implements & maintains process improvement initiatives
  • Co manages & supports professional contractors & providers where necessary
  • Supports Alaffia brand engagement events & tours with excellence
  • Supports The Alaffia Foundation (Non-profit org) with graphic design related requests as necessary.
  • Supports all Corporate Marketing Initiatives as needed
  • Eagerly participates in & supports special projects as requested by management
  • Ensures and nurtures a positive environment. Provides leadership & mentorship
  • Supports policies of the organization and partners with all leadership. Always gaining approval before action
  • Works in constant collaboration and alignment with the Senior Director & SVP


  • Bachelor's or equivalent experience in the following related fields: Graphic and/or Web Design
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to follow up and follow through as a rule versus the exception. Ability to prioritize & effectively time manage
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality. Must be able to exhibit sound and accurate judgement; make timely decisions
  • Exudes a high level of emotional intelligence. Thinks first before acting. Recognizes immediate & long term impact of one's actions and communication
  • Working knowledge and Consumer based perspective on Natural products and/or health & beauty is a strong plus.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Interest in current affairs. Pop culture aficionado
  • Practical knowledge of related functions including IT, finance, production, inventory planning and distribution.
  • Works well with varied business styles and with cross functional teams is strongly desired
  • Flexible in nature with the ability to react quickly and creatively to business needs
  • Ability to travel around 10-20% of the year
  • Positive motivation and collaboration skills. Ability to work alongside all leadership levels and teams.
